GETATCHEW MEKURIA - "And His Saxophone" LP Robb and Fairbrother return toGetatchew Mekuria And His Saxophone LP (Heavenly Sweetness, 2021) Recent repress of idiosyncratic early '70s afro jazz fire from Ethiopian saxophonist (and later The Ex collaborator!) Getatchew Mekurya. Fantastic stuff "Effortlessly, non intentional avant garde, not as it comes out of Gtatchw Mkuryas sax and his band, but as soon as the sound hits the western music laden ear, it rings as an almost imperceptible coup of spontaneous intertextuality."
