The Chesapecten shell cluster was found from the banks of the James River and are usually 3 to 8 million years old

It appears to have "grown out" of the calcite and mica base

The frame is decorated with gold leaf c-scroll leaves and urns with a shell sculpted and carved molding

This crystalline form of selenite gypsum is comprised of striations that look like optical light fibers. Unusual in size, these specimens have been mined by hand in Mexico.
