1819 Capped Bust Quarter NGC VG8 swfrank Struck between 1866 and 1883Mintage: 144,000 Designed by John Reich. NGC Population: 38 in this grade. Most 1819 quarter dollars were well struck, and they tend to wear fairly evenly. Mint State examples are very scarce, with gems being all but unknown. John Reich designed this capped head concept of Liberty, and it was modified by Chief Engraver of the Mint, William Kneass. It proved to be a popular design and lasted from 1815 to 1838.
