1863 CIVIL WAR BIBLE. Superb Presented by Worried Sister to Prisoner of War Brother. Manuscript Of the seventy-five thousand enlistedA superb wallet style binding presented by Annie Moore to her brother, James. R. Moore, probably after he was released as a Prisoner of War and returned to Washington D. C. before mustering out again. Likely James. R. Moore [b. 1842, TX, d. Genesee Falls, NY], mustered into Company F. Third Infantry, New York in 1864. He served the remainder of the War, was taken Prisoner, and released after the War's end. Unusually fine Bible for a Civil War soldier.
