Mid-20th Century Italian Rococo Style Gilt Gesso Mirror Throw Blankets rush seatsA bold and ornamental (likely) Italian mirror in the Rococo style, dating to the mid 20th century. This generously scaled piece features deeply scrolled acanthus forms in a dramatic symmetrical design, rendered in gesso and finished in warm gold leaf over red bole. The surface has aged gracefully, with flaking, cracks, and patina that lend it an antique presence and romantic character. The mirror plate is original or early, showing light signs of age.
