the sweater wont be completely smooth and a little rippling in the fabric is to be expected you just dont want excess bunching The bottom hem should hit just past, to 2 inches below, your belt buckle The V-collar should be narrow enough to touch and cover the tips of your dress shirt collar The bottom of the V of the collar should hit at or above the tops of your armpits Shoulder seams should line up with where your arms meet your shoulders Sleeves end where your wrist bends (it can look nice to have 1/4 of the cuff of your dress shirt extending past the end of the sweater sleeve) A sweater needs to fit well right off the rack, as it will be close to impossible to have it altered
Then, layer favorite off-the-shoulder dress overtop
